My dad does this once in a while. It strikes me as an interesting job. Somehow calls you, you go to their place. They show you a ladder and they ask "Is that safe? Can you climb up and show me?" And then you do! How does it feel to be a canary?
It is a funny thing, that after you get out there for awhile, you start to feel comfortable again, but really, there is no reason to feel safe, since each step is a unique test of the next stair's, handrail's, landing's structural integrity! It was nice to get out of the office for a few days though; and The views aren't bad either.
